Growing the Family Circle

Family – a word that encompasses the very essence of a ‘strong connection’. There’s something about the concept of family that rides deep emotions within our hearts and brings out the mushy in mush.

When I connect with a ‘new’ family member, I immediately gain a respect for that person. It’s like they enter my exclusive circle and I have an instantaneous connection and understanding of who they are and where they are from. Hence, my circle grows bigger, richer.

Just recently, I attended my cousin’s wedding. I hadn’t seen her in 7 years, and 10 years prior to this most recent encounter. It had been awhile, but whenever I meet up with her and her family, I feel like just yesterday we were kids playing together in the backyard. When playtime is over and everyone has to go home, I am a whimpering child.

That said, I met so many other extensions of my family at this wedding. Cousins of my cousins, their spouses, great aunts, and great uncles – the list was long. With each encounter, I gained a new respect for another family member and the circle grew an even larger circumference.

Stay in touch with family. Meet new family members through other family members. I can guarantee that your life will grow richer.

YTFW8 to spread the love?

As a recap: There’s a difference between wanting to do something, and actually doing something. It’s that fine line that separates the doers from the thinkers. I’ve coined the concept as “Doers Vs. Wannabes”.
